Myth 1: Baby goats are so cute
Yes, goat kids are cute, but only for about 16 weeks at which point even their mums have had enough of their shenanigans.
People often want a baby goat because they have seen cute videos, but the baby phase is tiny part of their life. You often see people wanting to re-home then when they hit 6 months old and people discover myth 2.
I don't sell baby goats as pets. Corley is 9 months old and towers over mum Corlissa.

They are one of the fastest growing animals (all that good milk) which is why they are one of the fastest growing sources of meat globally, up by 38% in the last 2 decades and 70% - 80% of the global population eats goat regularly.
Myth 2: Goats eat everything
Goats are browsers, not grazers and will actually only choose to nibble the tops off green grass when it is above knee height.
They are more susceptible to worms and prefer woody plants and shrubs. We cut acacia and other woody plants for them morning and evening.
This is supplemented with permanent access to meadow hay, with additional oaten & lucerne hay and grain based feeds late in pregnancy and when in milk.

Goats thrive on marginal land and research indicates 20% lower greenhouse gas emissions per kg of meat compared to cattle. They require less water and feed per kg produced making them more resource efficient.
Myth 3: Natural skincare is made by the seller
Approximately 40% of the skincare market is dominated by private label brands, which rely on contract manufacturers for their production needs. Boutique skincare labels typically focus on niche markets and unique formulations.
There are over 1100 private label skincare manufacturers in Australia, who can help you "build a powerful and memorable brand"
"White label allows brands to launch quickly using pre-developed formulations manufactured under their own brand.
Private label offers limited customisation of existing formulas, such as ingredient adjustments or fragrance variations, while retaining a faster path to market.
Contract manufacturing involves bespoke formulation development or the manufacture of brand-owned formulas through tech transfer, offering the highest level of customisation and scalability."
That boutique beef tallow balm, or indie beauty brand on Instagram was probably made with all the others in a factory on the east coast.
I am a genuinely small batch producer with most of my recipes making 10 to 20 jars or bottles. This means you get fresh products, but may also mean your favourite is sold out.

Myth 4: All goats milk soaps are the same
The goat soap you buy at markets or in shops does not have to have a minimum amount of goatsmilk to get the label.
Many soap sellers buy bulk "melt and pour" blocks that they colour and pour into pretty moulds.
My soap has fresh goat's milk as the first ingredient, others have it as an afterthought, after the colouring.
While many use powdered milk, Capricopia Farm’s creamy soaps are crafted with 100% fresh, nourishing milk from our own happy goats, a genuine farm-to-skin difference your skin will feel.
